Angouleme can be reached by car or train.

It is easily accessible from Paris on a direct line, the train journey only takes 2h, so it could also be a great day trip. And only 35min from Bordeaux!

There is also a circuit organised by the city to explain the history of the city and its fortified wall if you’d like to know more about it.

This stunning neo-gothic church was built between 1895 and 1960 and used to stand as a Chapelle, which was destroyed in the XVIIIth century.

The new design has been inspired by the Saint-Chapelle in Paris, This church towers over the orange tiled roof of the city and is hard to miss.


Centre National de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image – COMICS MUSEUM

Angoulême is famous for its comics festival, and you can find a National museum dedicated to comics and images there.

This museum is separated into three distinct buildings. You can find over 5000 sketches showing the evolution of comics and different techniques through the years. It’s a must-see for art and comics enthusiasts!

Located in the old town of Angoulême, this beautiful Byzantine-looking style Cathedral has undergone some reshaping since its first construction.

Built in XIX by Paul Abadie, this former Gothic castle is now the town hall of the city, and for sure one of the most gorgeous town halls I have ever seen!

You can visit the castle towers (360 steps) and the town hall for 8€.
