Getting to the capital is relatively easy when you land at CDG Airport. However, it’s best to plan in advance how you’ll get to the city and not leave this detail for the last minute to figure out, as it can be quite stressful not to know where you’re going when you land in a new city.

Of course, you can always ask the airport staff, but it’s best to be prepared.

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, or CDG Airport for short, is one of the main airports of Paris. Chances are this is where you’ll land when you arrive in Paris.

Fun fact: Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport gets its name after World War II statesman Charles de Gaulle.

How To Get From CDG Airport To Paris

To get from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), here is everything you need to know. You have 3 options: the Shuttle, the RER B or Uber/ Taxi.

Shuttle from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris – Opéra.

One of the ways to get from CDG to Paris is to board a shuttle after you land; this shuttle will take you directly into the city’s heart.

Where to board the shuttle at CDG:

Price: 16,50€

You only use cash when you buy on board the bus, so make sure to have change.

If you already have a Navigo Easy or Navigo Liberté +, get the Bonjour RATP App and buy the ticket from your smartphone to save money. It cost only 14,50€ then.

Pros of taking the shuttle from CDG Aiport to Paris – Opéra:

  • Cheaper than the Uber / Taxi
  • Avoid the hustle of carrying your luggage down the stairs.
  • Drop you directly into central Paris.

Cons of taking the shuttle from CDG Aiport to Paris – Opéra :

  • You can get stuck in traffic
  • Sometimes, the shuttles don’t have a rake for big luggage (it happened to me twice; it’s not fun)
  • Only one drop-off point: Opéra

RER B from CDG Airport to Central Paris

The second way to get from CDG Airport to Central Paris is to use the underground system of Paris

Make sure to get a Navigo Easy card at the booth!
This way, you can load your RER ticket on it and use it throughout your vacation in Paris to load your tickets; it’s also cheaper than buying units every time you need to take the metro, bus, or tram.

The Navigo Easy cost 2€.

Pros of taking the RER B from CDG Aiport to Paris:

  • You can pick which station you want to stop at. Or take the metro after.
  • Cheaper than the Taxi/Uber
  • Cheaper than the shuttle

Cons of taking the RER B from CDG Aiport to Paris:

  • Paris’s stations have many stairs; while some have elevators, they’re uncommon.
  • If it’s crowded, you’ll struggle with your luggage.

Uber or Taxi from CDG Aiport To Paris

The last method to get from CDG Airport to Paris would be to order an Uber or a Taxi. Plenty of drivers circling the area and a taxi wait zone, so it’s relatively easy to get a ride from the airport to the city.

Pros of taking the shuttle from CDG Aiport to Paris:

  • The most convenient method of transportation is as you’ll get directly where you want.
  • No need to carry your luggage
  • Can share the cost with people you travel with

Cons of taking the Taxi/Uber from CDG Aiport to Paris:

Note: ALWAYS get an Uber/Lyft/taxi or whatever you use via the official channels. Do NOT accept any rides from people just standing by and offering rides for discounted prices; you will likely end up paying more than you should, but it could also be dangerous.
