beautiful photos of Lisboa

As I said, for my first time in Portugal, I went to the Algarve, which is not so far from Lisbon as Portugal isn’t a big country, yet I sensed that the atmosphere was still really different from those two areas of Portugal.

While near the sea, Lisbon is still very much a city, different from other big cities (i.e. Paris or Milan). It has its unique charm with its narrow, steep streets, distinctive architecture, and colours. It is a world of its own that everyone needs to visit at least once in their life.

Lisbon photos ideas

If you have heard about Lisbon, then you might have already heard of or seen those places in photos. And, if you haven’t yet, here are the top places in Lisbon you need to visit!

  • Alfama neighbourhood
  • Praça Do Comércio

  • Monastery Of Jeronimos
  • Largo Do Calhariz

You need to add those places to your Lisbon Bucket List if you’re planning to spend 2 or 3 days in Lisbon!

A great thing to do when you visit Lisbon is to check out Belem, where you can eat the most delicious pasta de natal and visit the Tower of Belem.

If you remember correctly, the closing hours, so you don’t miss visiting it.
Yes, I speak from personal experience, but deciding to visit Sintra on a rainy AND foggy day wasn’t as bad.
That’s a story for another day because, trust me, a travel fail like this one makes amazing stories to tell later on.

beautiful photos of Lisbon, Portugal

I have to say I was sad when it was time for us to leave Lisbon and go back to Paris. The weather was so lovely there then, and Paris was suffering from a heatwave…
Also, I wished I had more time to wander the streets of Lisbon and see places that were further from the city centre that we didn’t make time to visit as we didn’t want to rush through this trip.

I also wish we didn’t get catcalled as much as we did, from men in their car or on the street…and worse of all, I wish I could unsee that guy who decided in broad daylight to pleasure himself close to us on a square, like what? What is wrong with men…I think Lisbon might be one of the places I got catcalled the most.

Rushing while you travel to cram in your schedule is, I think, one of the top travel mistakes to avoid nowadays. That’s why we took our sweet time exploring and soaking in the atmosphere of Lisbon (and avoiding uncomfortable situations). We missed some spots, but at least that’s a good excuse to return.

It’s not like you ever need an excuse to come back to visit a place you loved, though. I do that all the time.
