20 Photos To Inspire You Visit The Algarve
Sadly Portugal is often overlooked over its neighbour Spain but with those 20 photos to inspire you to visit the Algarve, Portugal will make an entrance on your bucket list!
My friend and I’s plans were initially to go to Spain, but as I saw some pictures of some dramatic coastlines, stunning landscapes in Portugal and after some of her co-worker’s recommendation we decided to pick Portugal and more precisely The Algarve.
While Portugal is gaining in popularity, it remains an underrated destination, which is sad, as it has a lot to offer and is a fantastic budget destination. So here are 20 Photos To Inspire You to Visit The Algarve.
20 Photos To Inspire You Visit The Algarve
I decided to continue my summer adventure in September by visiting Portugal for a couple of days with my friend.
It was my last getaway of the summer after I’d been to Greece a couple of weeks before, and boy, I do not regret it; I loved my time in Portugal.
I’ll be back, and I’m sure you’ll consider visiting the Algarve after seeing those beautiful travel photos of the area.
A little carrousel near the beach in Portimao where we stayed during the stay, it’s a perfect place for family!
Also, a little further near the cliff, it’s a beautiful spot to see the sunset on the beach!
Are you feeling inspired to visit the Algarve and Portugal yet? If yes, then make sure to plan a fantastic one week in Portugal to hit the Algarve and other outstanding areas!
The rocky beach of Benagil where you can find the most beautiful cave, and one famous that you will quickly see on google if you look up at the Algarve and cave.
You can take a hike there and admire the dramatic coastline and clear water from above; it’s also an enjoyable activity to do in Benagil.
If you’re looking for a great hike in southern Portugal and close to the Algarve, you should consider hiking Rota Vincentina for fantastic sceneries as well!
If you’re not too keen on walking and hiking, you can take a boat tour to explore the cave and see more of the coastline and lighthouse!
It’s pretty fun to see how some coastlines are shaped!
It was a bit complicated to reach on the weekend as there were not many buses scheduled but the Uber there is very cheap we only spent 7β¬ to go from Portimao to Benagil. So, it wasn’t that troublesome!
As you probably already noticed, the Algarve has some beautiful, dramatic coastlines, plenty of beaches and a raw nature perfect for trekking and stunning shots.
Honestly, they don’t need to be edited as nature is already beautiful and doesn’t need to be enhanced by anything. It’s a pleasure to wander for hours, enjoy the moment and take pictures!
Heart-Shaped Cave – How amazing is nature?!
Ponta da Piedade!
It is a famous cliff spot; do go and explore. it’s also a perfect Instagram spot! It’s quite a walk if you do not have a car to reach, but it’s pretty enjoyable.
3 of the main cities famous for staying tourists are :
– Lagos
– Portimao
– Albufeira
Wherever you decide to visit, it’s relatively easy to get around cities by car (the most straightforward way). Or if you don’t have a driver’s licence -like me- you can get around by bus (be careful with the timetable though!) or by Uber, if you’re not travelling solo and split the cost with friends, then it’s cheap.
So, are you feeling inspired to visit yet? Hopefully, the answer is yes!

Portugal has been on my bucket list since I saw a natural waterslide of sorts on a video. The next time we’re in Europe, this will be one of our destinations. Beautiful photos.
I loved Portugal so much! And that wooden ladder brings me right back on that beach! Oh… I should really go back for a remake of Portugal road trip <3
Looks beautiful. Will have to see if I can perhaps fit in a side trip when I go to Lisbon later this year.
I hope you can make it, it’s truly beautiful there π
I agree! Portugal is over looked and I’m ok with that. This way its not so crowded when I get back there. I stumbled onto Portugal by chance. It never was on my list. But, on my way to Morocco I had a layover in Lisbon. So, I decided, why not? I was there. Spend two days to explore. I was in love in 5 minutes and I cursed myself for giving me only two days. I’m still cursing myself. I cannot wait to go back.
I agree! It’s really nice that it is not overcrowded but at the same time I can’t help but want to tell everyone how great it so great there! We only stayed 5 days and I felt that it was way too short so I can imagine how frustrating it might be!
I love The Algarve! Last year I went to the East-Algarve in Oktober. Warm weather, nice people and great food.
Yes, the weather there is so nice even after summer! π
I have never been to Portugal so this was so great to read. Itβs definitely on my list after seeing all your lovely photos. Thanks for sharing!
Portugal is awesome! Thanks for stopping by π

These are such beautiful pictures! I love all the blues! And that heart-shaped cave! π
Thank you π It was my favourite cave, nature can be so amazing!
I spent two weeks in Portugal but I didn’t make it to The Algarve. I’m convinced, I need to add it to my list!
I’m sure you will love it! π
Beautiful pictures! I only know Lisbon in Portugal, but I definitively want to visit the Algarve region next time, and also Porto, which I’m in love with lately.

Portugal was always on my bucket list and I almost got there a few times, but somehow plans have changed every time LOL
I’m sure I’ll go there one day as it looks like a perfect place to buy a beach house one day (after I buy a normal house first of course haha). And I see everyone talks about Algarve, so I guess it should be on my list too. Pics are really inspiring!
