Here it is, my 2022 travel review
I didn’t write a recap of 2021 as those kinds of posts don’t exactly bring traffic, and it doesn’t interest readers either. However, they are super fun, and I want to write my review for 2022! As 2022 ends, it is an excellent time to reflect on the year and all the travel I did.

However, I digress, back to my travels of 2022.
This year I managed to add 3 new countries to my Travel Bucket List, but I visited 5 countries. Those are the 5 countries I visited:
The new countries I added to my bucket list are Austria, Switzerland and Hungary. I have yet to post about the first two, but I recently published my post about How To Visit Budapest in 2 days. I adored my time in the capital of Hungary. I will come back for sure.
I spent many hours in London this year as I resumed my previous job on board the Eurostar, which allows me to explore this beautiful this now and then when I am on break. This was an excellent opportunity to discover new museums and places.
If you’re considering travelling between London and Paris (or vice versa), I highly recommend travelling by Eurostar for its convenience.

My 2022 Travel Review
Zagreb, Croatia
Long-distance relationship travel, ftw. My boyfriend is from Croatia and lives in Zagreb. Therefore I am visiting quite often. The first time I went to Croatia was last year; for my first trip to Croatia, I went to Zagreb, the country’s capital, and took a day trip to Plitvice. Since then, I have gone to Zagreb many more times, 5 times.
I wrote a guide on the best things to do in Zagreb, a charming city, while Croatia is more famous for its coastal area or Plitvice Lakes (I also have a guide on how to spend one day at Plitvice lakes national park btw!)
Zagreb is a vibrant city with plenty to do throughout the year. You won’t get bored whether you visit in summer or winter.
Here are the best things to do in Zagreb if you’re planning to visit the capital of Croatia.
Austria – Graz & Vienna
My first time in Austria was during the summer; for a day trip, I visited the city of Graz from Zagreb; you can reach many cities from Zagreb by bus without breaking the bank. Travelling by bus is cheaper than travelling across Europe by plane or train sometimes.
Graz is located 3 hours by bus from Zagreb, it is a lovely city, and you can find one of the longest slides there! If you are visiting Austria, I recommend adding Graz to your itinerary.
My second time in Austria was more recently; I spent 28 hours in Vienna in December to check out the Christmas markets. Vienna was the last city I visited to wrap up my 2022 travel review.
While Vienna is a gorgeous city and probably has some of the most beautiful Christmas markets I have ever seen, it was so so so cold during my stay. It slowed us down a lot, and needless to say, my little skirt was not the most appropriate for this weather.
I would love to come back and explore the city for a more extended period and with more temperate weather.
Both times we went to Austria, we passed by Slovenia. However, I don’t think a stop at Maribor bus station does count as visiting the country aha. But I will be back and visit Slovenia for sure, maybe next year.

Budapest – Hungary
If I had to pick a favourite trip this year, I think Budapest would take the cake; I loved my time in the capital of Hungary.
I spent 4 days in Budapest, and while only two of those days were complete, I loved my short time there, and I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the city and the country in general. And, this time, I will try a thermae; sadly, this is something I didn’t do during my visit to Budapest.
Of course, it’s one of the must-do if you visit Budapest, but, being sick, I didn’t feel like it. So, next time! If you’d like to know more about Hungary’s capital, check out my post on the best things to do in Budapest in 2 days.
Geneva – Switzerland
Coming in very short as one my favourite trip of the year, Geneva in Switzerland. From various photos and media outlets, I knew Switzerland was described as a stunning country, but I was swooned away by the beauty of Geneva and the clear blue water of Lac Léman.
I visited Switzerland in March; my friend and I took a night bus to Geneva from Paris; we arrived for the sunrise in Geneva, and the view was breathtaking; I made a reel about it if you want to check it out.
Geneva is a beautiful and relaxing city, the perfect spot for a romantic or relaxing getaway.

Conclusion of my 2022 Travel Review
I am looking forward to 2023. I don’t have a detailed plan of where I will go in 2023 beside one, and it’s a pretty significant plan; I would like to do a working holiday in Japan and explore the country more in-depth! I think 2022 has been a pretty fantastic year; I am happy that I was able to cross 3 new countries off my bucket list; after the chaos that was 2020, it almost feels like things are slowly shifting back to “normal” again.
And I can’t wait for it, and I wanted to do this after the summer of 2020; of course, for apparent reasons, it never happened, so fingers crossed it all works out this year. Alright, that’s a wrap on my 2022 travel review; I wish everyone a very happy new year and best wishes!

– Skyscanner; it is a good comparator for finding the cheapest flights.
– Google Flights is also a good help when comparing flights.

– Booking.com: plenty of options and ways to get discounts the more you book.
✈ Best Sites To Book Activities
– GetYourGuide when I can’t get a ticket directly on the website or if it’s easier to go through them.
– Klook if you need to book more than just activities and would like to get everything from the same website or different day trips—(i.e. transport cards, car rental, hotel…).
✈ Other helpful travel resources
– Radical Storage: If you need a place to keep your luggage for an extended period when you travel, I recommend using them.
– TheTrainline: If you love to travel by train like me, then TheTrainline needs to be your go-to website for train travel in Europe.
