Hello everyone !
Another Japan related blog post, this time it’s going to be about themed restaurant. Japanese are pretty fond of themed restaurant some are permanent and some ephemery.
There’s a lot of them, you can find a lot about various manga (One Piece, Sailor Moon, Pokemon etc..) or Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty or Pompompurin and even video game, yep Final Fantasy Cafe is a thing.
Let’s get started !
#1 One Piece Baratie Restaurant – Odaiba, Tokyo
The first themed restaurant I ever went to !
Zoro and Chopper drinks.
Tried their Chicken and fries, nothing fancy but a sure meal. There’s a lot of choices on the menu that follows the manga. So if you come back, some of dishes may have a changed.
I actually ordered the exact same thing as I first went in 2014, the products were the same but cooked differently. 2015 Version.
Baggy and Luffy drinks.
#2 Gundam Cafe – Akihabara, Tokyo
This one is pretty easy to spot in Akihabara it’s right at the Electronic Town exit and next to the AKB48 Cafe. Since it was too earlier for dinner and we had had lunch earlier we only had a weird ice cream?
I’m not a huge fan of gundam but we went in for a friend and it was still pretty cool to see how it was displayed.
#3 Pomponpurin Cafe – Harajuku, Takeshita Dori, Tokyo
For this one we had to take a little ticket asking us to come back at the hour written on it. It’s pretty crowded even after lunch hours.
Pompompurin is an official Sanrio character so you can also find at the entrance of the cafe a little shop area if you want some goods.
#4 Cafe Mugiwara – Tokyo SkyTree
This Cafe is located in the Sky Tree next to another Restaurant call Sanji Oresama restaurant as for the Baratie there’s a bit of queue but nothing terrible.
We both picked the same dishe “Straw Hat Omelet”, it was good but it had WAY TOO MUCH mayonnaise on the top. The atmosphere was nice and friendly and since the dishes aren’t the same as at The Baratie it’s worth going.
One of the themed restaurants I regret not going to is the Final Fantasy one, but it was super crowded and you need ticket to access which nor me or my friends had ! 😦
There’s tons of others themed restaurant as Alice In Wonderland or Pokemons, Hello Kitty etc but those are the ones I’ve been to so far ! Hopefully will do more in the futur. And, yes, I like One Piece.
Although it can a little more expensive than regular restaurants it’s nice to at least try one if you’re staying in Japan/Tokyo.
